USHIO promotes a variety of initiatives that include developing environmentally conscious products and carrying out community activities. For detailed information, refer to the Environmental and Social Activities page.

What is your policy on environmental communications?

We carry out environmental communications using methods best suited to the characteristics of our stakeholders as we strive to foster a deeper mutual understanding.

Can you describe some of the specific social activities that you carry out?

As members of society, each employee proactively participates in activities in their local community.

Could you explain measures undertaken for managing chemical substances contained in products?

USHIO maintains a firm understanding of global environmental regulations concerning products and has created and implemented a structure for managing product information.

Would you describe USHIO’s initiatives in environmentally conscious products?

We are working on the creation of “super green products,” which are outstanding in terms of environment consciousness.

How far have you advanced in the effective use of resources?

We have reached the zero-emission level, realizing an effective utilization rate exceeding 99% at our production bases. We will strive to reduce emissions further in the future as well.

What do you consider the key point for promoting global warming countermeasures?

Each individual must maintain an awareness of the ways of using energy. To do so, we believe that “visualization” of actual conditions will be crucial.

How are you responding to “environmental risk”?

We are implementing “environmental risk patrols” and “environmental risk education” and promoting risk management that reinforces our Environmental Management System (EMS).

In what manner are you using numerical values for environment performance?

Besides using such values for reducing the environmental load, we are using these figures as a basis for reducing waste in our operations.

How do you verify the effects of environmental investment?

We use environmental accounting to verify whether we have obtained larger benefits in the fields in which we have invested and are linking the results to our future environmental activities.v
