Product and Technology Ushio launches 685nm Wavelength Red Laser Diode “HL67241MG” with 200mW Pulsed Optical Output Power for Distance Measurement

Ushio Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "Ushio") has completed development of the HL67241MG laser diode (LD) for distance measurement. Shipments are scheduled to start in April 2026.

In recent years, accurate surveying has become indispensable in various fields including construction and infrastructure development. Precise building layout and distortion checks through architectural surveying, urban planning and road design via terrain surveying, and flood control and environmental protection through waterway surveying all require highly accurate measurements. In these areas, even slight errors can directly impact safety and durability, increasing the importance of high-precision surveying technologies.
For distance measurements ranging from meters to kilometers, rangefinders use laser light to calculate distance based on the phase difference or time of flight of light reflected from the target. To achieve faster, more stable, and highly accurate measurements, the light source must be a laser diode capable of pulsed operation with high optical output and excellent beam quality.
To address these needs, Ushio has developed the new red laser diode “HL67241MG” with wavelength of 685nm, optical output power of 50mW(CW), 200mW(Pulse) while maintaining good beam quality. This new product leverages Ushio's cutting-edge technology to offer stable, pulsed optical output power of 200mW at single transvers mode while maintaining excellent beam quality. Additionally, its compact 5.6mm diameter package, it operates stably even under high-temperature conditions up to 75°C and it includes a built-in monitor photodiode within the package, making it suitable for stable operation at constant optical output.

Ushio continues to contribute to the development of society by further upgrading the performance of LDs.
