TECHNOLOGY & METHODS

  • STEP1Cultivation nerve cells in the plate and neurites will outgrowth into the microchannel.
  • STEP2After staining the nerve cells, observe them using HCS equipment or a fluorescence microscope.
  • STEP3Analyze the image data with pretrained AI and predict the neurotoxity of drug candidates.


Microchannel Culture

Through microchannels with ultrathin openings, only neurites extend from the nerve cell aggregates. Moreover, uniform neurite formation is ensured and stabilized. In addition, clear images suitable for AI analysis can be obtained. Furthermore, similar to well plates, the chip is easy to handle through the use of micropipettes. Cumbersome tube connections are unnecessary. Automated equipment, such as automatic dispensing equipment and HCS equipment, can also be used in conjunction.


AI Imaging Analysis

The evaluation method was developed jointly with Prof. Ikurou Suzuki of Tohoku Institute of Technlogy.
It studies the structural characteristics of neurites during drug disorders and evaluates the risk of nerve disorders. It ensures a stable risk assessment, a suitable throughput, and automative workflow.
