Ushio Inc. (Head Office: Tokyo, President and CEO: Takabumi Asahi, hereinafter “Ushio”) is pleased to announce that it has received the Laser Industry Award for Excellent Product for its red multi-beam laser diode (2, 4, and 8-beam laser diode [LD]) for printers in the 17th Industry Award of The Laser Society of Japan for fiscal year 2025.

This award is presented to those who have contributed to the advancement of laser-related industries in Japan through the development, practical application, and dissemination of laser-related products and technologies. Among these, the Laser Industry Award for Excellent Product is given to laser-related industrial technologies that demonstrate technological achievements and market performance. For this award, the following key aspects were recognized, leading to the award.


・The development of red multi-beam LD for printers has made significant contributions to enhancing the performance of office printers and multifunction printers.

・This technology has achieved mass production of multi-beam LDs, essential for high-speed and high-resolution printing, and has realized stable beam output by suppressing thermal crosstalk between beams through proprietary chip structures and packaging technologies.

・The company has expanded its lineup to include red LDs with wavelengths of 650–670nm, which are crucial for high-resolution printing, and has consistently provided customized solutions to meet customer needs. As a result, it has built an outstanding market presence, with cumulative sales exceeding 20 million units.


・This technology also holds potential for application in AR/VR displays, where high resolution is essential, indicating promising prospects for next-generation markets.
