Announcements Ushio's high-power 700nm laser diode is awarded top prize in the Quantum Technology category of the LASER World of PHOTONICS Innovation Award 2023


Ushio Inc. (Head Office: Tokyo; President and CEO: Koji Naito; hereinafter “Ushio”) is pleased to announce that it has won the top prize in the Quantum Technology category of the Innovation Award 2023 organized by LASER World of PHOTONICS for its high-power 700nm band laser diode (LD).

The Innovation Award 2023 recognizes the most innovative products presented at LASER World of PHOTONICS 2023, held June 27-30 in Munich, Germany. It recognizes both the technical excellence of an innovation and its practical benefits and cost-effectiveness for the user. 

The award-winning high-power 700nm laser diodes achieve outstanding optical output power of 200mW in single mode at a wavelength of 705nm, an unprecedented long wavelength for LDs in this band. They also feature high efficiency, high reliability and excellent temperature characteristics due to improved crystal quality.

With its high performance and wide wavelength range from 660nm to 705nm, it will contribute to further technological innovations in the fields of optical lattice clocks that deviate by only one second in 30 billion years, and genome analysis and pharmaceutical design with quantum computers.
