This award is presented to those who have contributed to the development of the laser-related industry in Japan through the development, practical application, and dissemination of laser-related products and technologies. In particular, the Encouragement Award distinguishes “market development and future potential” and the following aspects of HL63520HD have been recognized:
・Ushio’s technology for achieving the world's highest optical output power and power conversion efficiency, as well as its proven track record as one of the world's top two red semiconductor laser manufacturers.
・The market for large projectors and laser TVs is expected to grow, which may later extend to automotive heads-up displays for automotive and AR/VR applications, demonstrating high future market potential for HL63520HD.

The Innovation Award 2023 is given to particularly innovative products among those exhibited at the LASER World of PHOTONICS 2023 held in Munich, Germany from June 27 to 30. USHIO received the award for being the most outstanding product related to quantum technology in this category.
The 700nm band LDs that received the award this time are products that, by improving the crystalline quality, have achieved an unprecedentedly long wavelength of 705nm and high optical output power of 200mW in single mode, as well as high efficiency, high reliability, and excellent temperature characteristics. With its high performance and wide wavelength lineup from 660nm to 705nm, it will contribute to technological innovation in optical lattice clocks that deviate only 1 second in 30 billion years, genome analysis using quantum computers, and pharmaceutical design.

The SPIE Prism Awards honors companies that bring innovative products to market in the field of photonics.
Ushio were selected as a finalist in the Quantum Technology category of the SPIE Prism Awards 2024 for our HL70021DG and HL70031DG, high power 200mW laser diodes in the 700nm wavelength band.
