Biomedical Applications of Deep Red Color (670~690 nm) Laser Diodes
There are many applications for red laser diodes, and the wavelengths selected for each application must consider the purpose of the application and the characteristics of the wavelength itself. In this article, we focus on the biomedical applications of deep red laser diodes (670–690nm).
Ushio Inc. (Head Office: Tokyo, President & CEO: Koji Naito, subsequently referred to as "Ushio") is pleased to announce that it has commenced sample shipments of its new HL67203HD and HL69203HD multi-mode laser diodes (LDs).
Ushio Inc. (Head Office: Tokyo; President & CEO: Koji Naito; hereinafter referred to as "Ushio") is pleased to announce a new 200 mW, high-power, single-mode laser diode (LD) series. Emitting a wavelength of 639 nm, the HL63642DG series boasts improvements to efficiency and features low power consumption. Initial shipments of the HL63642DG series began in January 2022.
Ushio Starts 670nm to 690nm Band Single-mode
200mW Laser Diode Sample Shipment
Ushio Inc. (Head Office: Tokyo, President & CEO: Koji Naito, hereinafter referred to as "Ushio") is proud to announce the sample release of high-efficiency and compact 200mW high-power single-mode laser diodes (LDs) with wavelength of 675nm and 690nm as a red light source that can be used in a wide range of applications, such as research and development in the life science, biomedical and quantum fields in October 2021.
High Resolution Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy
Confocal microscopes have a very high spatial resolution among optical microscopes. In a modern process known as confocal laser scanning microscopy, they are widely used for cell imaging in the biomedical field and high-precision shape measurement in the semiconductor industry.
New high-efficiency laser diodes for distance measurement sensing
Ushio Inc. has recently launched our new high-efficiency, low operating current HL65261MG series laser diodes (LDs). This addition to our 660nm product line enables the continued expansion of sensor devices equipped with red LDs as their light source.
Ushio introduces high-power red laser diode for laser projectors
Due to their long lifetime in comparison to conventional lamps, laser projectors are increasing in popularity. The total cost of ownership is reduced through the elimination of lamp replacement, and the use of red laser diodes (LDs) as a light source achieves excellent color reproduction with high efficiency. Ushio Inc. has created high-power red laser diode HL63623HD primarily for use as a light source for laser projectors. Over recent years, Ushio has contributed to the expansion of laser projectors through our proactive suggestion of high-power red LD products within the market. In 2017, we launched two types of emitters: the single emitter HL63283HD (637nm, CW 1.2W) and the dual emitter HL63290HD (638nm, CW 2.2W, pulsed 2.8W). In 2019, we launched HL63520HD, a dual emitter with an impressive pulsed optical output power of 3.5W (638nm, CW 2.4W, pulsed 3.5W). As such, Ushio has contributed to the optimization of the optical design of various projectors by offering a varied lineup of products with differing light output and emitting options.
Ushio laser diodes for distance and 3D shape measurement
Non-contact distance measurement is becoming an indispensable technology in many aspects of our lives. Our smartphones measure the distance to a subject in order to focus while taking a photo. Non-contact distance meters, now readily available at home improvement stores, allow for the measurement of the distance from a wall to a pillar for DIY projects, while those that can measure longer distances are used on construction sites and for agricultural land management.
Ushio launches new series of high-temperature 660nm laser diodes
In February, Ushio Inc. will be releasing a new single mode series of 660nm laser diodes (LDs) featuring an increased high-temperature operation of up to 90°C. Providing optical output power of 100mW (CW)/200mW (pulsed), HL65241DG/242DG/243DG will have an operating temperature specification range of -10°C to 90°C, making this series well-suited to sensing and biomedical applications.
Ushio to release new 400mW (CW) 404nm laser diode in December
Beginning in December, Ushio, Inc. will further expand its violet product portfolio with the manufacture of a new 404nm laser diode (LD). Offering 400mW (max. rated 500mW) of CW output power within a Φ5.6mm CAN package, HL40093MG will meet the demand for a violet wavelength LD suitable for use in industrial applications and beyond.
