Impact of the Tohoku District-off the Pacific Ocean Earthquake
We would like to express our heartfelt sympathies to the victims of the Tohoku District-off the Pacific Ocean Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011. We hope that devastated areas will recover at the earliest possible time.
Here we report the impact of the earthquake on the USHIO Group.
1. Damage
(Ⅰ)Casualties
We have confirmed no casualties among members of the Group at present.
(Ⅱ)Impact on production activities
We have identified no serious damage to the Group’s major production sites: Harima Division of USHIO INC. (Himeji, Hyogo), Gotemba Division of USHIO INC. (Gotemba, Shizuoka) and TSUKUBA USHIO ELECTRIC, INC.(Tsukuba, Ibaraki).
Our manufacturing facilities are currently being inspected, and we anticipate a return to normal operations following this. However, supply may be affected depending on material procurement, essential services, and planned outages.
2. Impact on performance
We currently anticipate a minor impact from the earthquake and subsequent responses, such as the planned outages, on performance during the term ended in March 2011. We will make prompt disclosure as necessary.
