BEWARE OF IMPERSONATION SCAMS

We are receiving reports from individuals and customers in the U.S. that they have been contacted by someone who claimed to be an executive officer of Ushio Inc., soliciting them to work for Ushio Inc. as a representative to collect outstanding accounts receivable in the U.S. or Canada. PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THIS TYPE OF SOLICITATION—IT IS AN IMPERSONATION SCAM.

These fraudsters improperly bought domain names that include “Ushio” (such as “Ushiojp.com” and “Ushio-jp.com”). Using these domain names, they send email messages pretending to be an Ushio executive to solicit individuals (contacted via social media or directly at their company or personal email addresses) to become an “Account Receivable agent” and collect money from companies. They promise to pay fixed monthly fees and a commission (such as 10% of anything collected). In the process of setting up this fraudulent scheme, they ask individuals to send their personal information, including bank information.

Their motivation may be to collect personal and financial information and/or commit fraudulent acts through the individuals. Ushio Inc. would never contact individuals directly to work as its collection agent. AGAIN, PLEASE DO NOT RESPOND TO THESE SOLICITATIONS, AND NEVER REVEAL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION.

We do not want anyone to fall prey to online scams and are investigating ways to prevent fraudsters from misusing our name for illicit purposes.
